Thermoplastic powders are used in the textile industry as adhesives.

Product examples include: laminating furniture leather or imitation leather to felt or foam sheet backings, shirt collars that are fixed and reinforced a with fine powder layer, technical textiles for clothing that benefit from the adhesive layer being discontinuous and breathable, geotextile laminates with non-woven layers, automotive fabrics for seating, door lining or noise insulation around the engine. Powders are used in many diverse markets, much of their usage is linked to non-woven fabric processing. For some users, even the non-woven fluff itself is bonded together with the powder working as a commingled binder.

The methods used for applying the powders onto textile fabrics either woven on non-woven is scatter coating, powder dot or paste dot.
